Day 1: Post 21 Day Cleanse

I woke up today with a huge smile and almost jumped out of bed so I could have my delicious egg breakfast I have missed so much!  And a REAL cup of coffee!!  It was all so tasty.

Technically I am supposed to add in each food item that eliminated one at a time.  That didn't go over that well, but I felt pretty good all day long so I can't complain.  Here is what I ate today:

Breakfast:  1 whole egg, 3 egg whites, a dash of nutritional yeast, spinach and 1 organic flour tortilla.  YUM.  I was pretty full after this and felt a little nauseous but I think I ate it too fast and this was a waaaayyy heavier breakfast than I have had in 3 weeks so that's probably why.

Post-workout:  1 protein shake (MY WAY!).  1 scoop On Nutrition Whey Chocolate Protein, 2 tbsp Organic PBfit peanut butter (this stuff is bomb.com and 90% less fat than regular peanut butter), 1 tbsp flax, 1/2 banana and a little bit of unsweetened cocoa powder.  SO SO GOOD.

Lunch:  I ate out with my Xymogen boss for sushi so I had lots of soy and shellfish with the edamame, soy sauce and crab!  Some dairy too--it was all so good and I felt no effects.

Dinner: 1 wild alaskan salmon filet (Costco marinated ones--my fave), 1 cup mixed veggies (leftover from last night) and 3/4 cup quinoa.

Dessert:  1/2 cup peanut butter and chocolate organic puff cereal with about 1/2 cup almond milk.  (I think I was missing peanut butter and chocolate).

I didn't put this into myfitnesspal.com because I never know how to log sushi.  I have my meals planned out for tomorrow though and I am so on track eating what I want!!

Overall I did not have any reactions from what I ate today.  I also didn't want to overdue it either.  The next 3 days I'll be eating clean since I have shift and I'm busy so I meal prepped today some turkey chili (very low carb), and some green chili chicken with cannelloni beans.  I make this with pork sometimes, but pork is fattening so I chose chicken.  I also prepped some mixed raw veggies so I stay on track for the week.

That's a wrap!  I may not update tomorrow, but I'll try to update in a couple of days to let you know how I'm feeling with adding back in all the foods I avoided.

Day 21: 21 Day Cleanse

The day is finally here!!!  I did it!!!  I really did!  I never thought in a million years that I would be able to do something like this, but it goes to show you that if you put your mind to something, anything is possible.  I am so so proud of myself for completing this, not giving into temptation and following this cleanse to a T.

I only have 3. 5 more hours of this cleanse  (my Mom asked if I was going to wake up at midnight and eat!) and then when I wake up in the morning I can eat some delicious eggs and a tortilla.  They are patiently waiting in my fridge for me to consume them.  Oh, I can have a cup of hot regular coffee too!  Ahhh....it's going to be delightful.  I went to Costco today and spent way to much money but I think I was just happy that I could eat this and I could eat that and I wasn't restricted.  Being restricted sucked, but I gave my body a rest, I cleansed it, I detoxed it and now I'm ready to go.  I'm not going to rush out and get a cheeseburger, fries, pizza, beer and ice cream tomorrow (even though they all sound SO good), but over the next few days I may indulge because....I can.  I deserve it.  I am supposed to re-introduce the foods I have avoided over the past 3 weeks one at a time and slowly.  That part I can't promise.

I do feel good overall, but it wasn't as if I had any "issues" going into this cleanse in the first place.  This cleanse is meant for those who have gut problems, brain fog, headaches, indigestion, gas, bloating, decreased appetite, diarrhea, etc.  I get none of those symptoms when I eat food.  This cleanse was more of a mental thing with me vs. food.  Knowing that I can do without certain foods for three weeks and not give into temptation, having to politely decline when offered something to try, not taking a sample from the sample lady at Costco, watching and not partaking in friends eating cake and cookies was what I got out of this cleanse.  Food can be like a drug, it's addicting and our brains condition us to want certain foods when we necessarily don't need those foods.

Here is my final "what I ate today" on this 21 day cleanse:

Breakfast:  1 final smoothie with 1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder, 1/2 cup organic berries, 1 cup organic baby spinach, 1 scoop OrganiX Phytofood, 1 tbsp chia and flax seeds.  (I will continue to have smoothies, but not on a daily basis and it will be back to whey protein...I can't wait to have my chocolate, peanut butter and banana protein shake!!!)

Lunch:  I treated myself to Chipotle after I was done at Costco.  I could have had lunch at Costco taking all the samples, but I had to decline.  Every. Single. One.  Ugh.  So I got a chicken bowl with brown rice, pinto beans, lettuce and guacamole.  It was delish.

Afternoon snack:  1 grapefruit and the rest of my guacamole with gluten free toasted sesame crackers.

Dinner:  Amy's Organics Split Pea Soup.  It hit the spot!

After dinner snack:  1 brown rice cake with 1 tbsp almond butter and a drizzle of honey.  1.5 chicken patty's for my protein snack before bed.

Like I said my fridge and pantry are stocked with all my favorites, healthy stuff that is.  Zevia, eggs, organic tortillas, bell peppers, skinny pop popcorn, rice packets, hashbrowns, green chile sauce, Kodiak pancakes, tomatoes, yogurt, waffles, bananas (I've missed bananas), orange juice (I read about this in my eating w/ lymphedema book) and other things that had some ingredients in them I had to avoid while on this cleanse.

So, what did I learn from this?

1.  I can do anything I put my mind to.
2.  I don't need caffeine.
3.  I can be vegan.
4.  I can say no to food.
5.  I can resist temptation.
6.  I'm an avid label reader now.
7.  I know all the "bad" ingredients and those to avoid.
8.  It's almost impossible to be on a low carb, high protein diet if you are vegan.
9.  I never want to drink protein powder every single day again in my life.
10.  I lost 4 pounds and 1% body fat.
11.  Weird, but I didn't really miss alcohol.
12.  I feel for those who have food allergies, are gluten sensitive, lactose intolerant, etc.  But if I were, I know I go without these foods.
13.  I have never been more excited to eat breakfast in the morning.

That's all folks!  I'll update tomorrow to let you know how the day after goes.  I'm eating out at least once tomorrow (for a meeting) and maybe a lunch w/ my Xymogen boss for sushi so we'll see how that goes.  I am taking this week "off" from counting calories and just going to eat what I want.  I will still remain healthy for the most part, but I may indulge a little bit (don't tell Phil at Team Afterburn on me!)

Thanks to everyone who followed me on this cleanse.  I hope you learned something!!

Day 20: 21 Day Cleanse

ONE MORE DAY!!!  Whoop!!  I'm SO SO proud of myself for doing this.  I only have 24 more hours to survive and if I can do it for 20 days, I certainly can do it for 1 more day!!!  I'm already dreaming about my egg breakfast on Monday...

Here's what I ate today:

Breakfast:  1 protein shake (1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder and 1 scoop Organix PhytoFood) mixed with water.  1 cup organic brown rice puffs with 1 cup SoDelicious WalnutAlmond Milk (trying this out and it's good!)

Lunch:  1 cup GoGo Organic Quinoa pasta with turkey patty, water chestnuts, zucchini, artichokes and pine nuts.  1 medium peach.

Afternoon snack:  1 can wild salmon with 1/2 avocado, celery and lemon juice.  About 15 gluten free crackers (toasted sesame brown rice and chickpea)

Dinner:  1 mahi mahi filet, 1/2 cup organic quinoa and 1/2 bag of steamed mixed veggies

After dinner:  1.5 chicken patty and 1/4 organic seeds and nuts

Total calories:  about 1600.  41% carbs, 34% protein and 24% fat.  LOVE THIS!  The trainer at the gym wants me to eat about 1400 calories.  I'm going to strive to hit between 1400 and 1600 and see how I do coming off this cleanse.  I'm going to shoot to keep my carbs to get no higher than 40% (preferably around 30-35%)  fats <25 35="" 40="" and="" at="" least="" nbsp="" p="" preferably="" protein="">
Tomorrow I'm heading to Costco to get a few things that I will need now that I'm off this cleanse.  What i don't want to happen after this cleanse to is to binge eat horrible food.  So, I'll pace myself.  Ha!  I'm eating lunch and dinner out on Monday because I have meetings so there are 2 treats already!

That's the report from here.  One more day to go!!

Day 19: 21 Day Cleanse

Only 2 days remain.  WOO HOO!  I had some major temptations today when I went into Loco to do some work.  Delicious steak, chips and guacamole.  Oh it looked so good!!  I did eat some of the guacamole but had to pick around the tomatoes.  I was really proud of myself for resisting the temptation because it was tough!!

Here's what I ate today instead:

Breakfast:  1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder with 1 scoop OrganiX Phytofood mixed with water.  1 cup organic brown rice puffs with 1 cup almond milk.

After work out snack:  1 chicken patty and 1/2 cup blackberries.

Lunch:  Organic quinoa pasta with turkey patty, water chestnuts, artichokes, zucchini and pine nuts.

Loco meal:  Grilled chicken with kale crunch salad (kale, cabbage, brussel sprouts, carrots, etc.), 1/2 cup black beans and 1/4 avocado.

Dinner:  1 chicken patty with 2 beets and 1/4 cup quinoa.

Late night snack:  1 cup organic brown rice cereal and 1 cup almond milk.

I was really hungry today--I think it was because of the workout.  I didn't record again and I may plug it in tomorrow just to see how I did.

That's the update from here.  Only 2 more days.  I could have really used a slice of greasy pizza tonight--ahhhhhh.

Till tomorrow--

Day 18: 21 Day Cleanse

Another day in the books!  My blogging isn't really that exciting anymore is it?  Each day feels the same and I really do feel  good since being on this cleanse!  I wonder how I will feel in comparison when I splurge a little and eat gluten again?!

Anyways, here is what I ate today:

Breakfast:  1 smoothie (1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder, 1 cup spinach, 1 cup organic berries, 1 tbsp flax and chia seeds and 1/2 avocado)

Lunch:  Leftover pasta that I made last night (organic quinoa pasta with turkey, water chestnuts, artichokes, zucchini and pine nuts)

Snacks:  blackberries, chicken patty and mixed raw veggies with a hummus snack pack

Dinner:  2 chicken drumsticks (skin removed) with roasted brussel sprouts and basmati rice

Dessert:  1 brown rice cake with 1 tbsp almond butter and a drizzle of honey.

Again, no calorie counting but I feel I ate enough today and it was well balanced.

3 MORE DAYS!  3 MORE DAYS!!  So so excited!!

Chat with you all tomorrow--

Day 17: 21 Day Cleanse

Only 4 more days to go!  I'm so So SO excited!!!  I'm even more excited that I only have to drink 1 protein shake per day for the rest of the this cleanse.  I'm getting SO sick of drinking this protein!  I was a little sleepy today, but I had a killer day today and didn't get my full 8 hours of sleep last night and another really busy day today so that's probably why.

Here is what I ate today:

Breakfast:  1 cup Organic Brown Rice puff cereal with 1 cup unsweetened almond milk.  1 turkey filet. 1 protein shake w/ 1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water.
Lunch:  1/2 can tuna with 1 brown rice cake.
Dinner:  organic quinoa pasta with turkey filets, water chestnuts, artichoke hearts, zucchini and roasted pine nuts.
Snacks:  1 peach, 3 kiwis and I'm about to make something else but I don't know what yet.  :)
Before bed:  1 protein shake w/ 1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water.

I didn't count calories again but I feel that I could have eaten more today.  I have a love/hate relationship with counting calories because I love it because it holds me accountable, but I hate it because it's time consuming.  Once I resume my normal diet it will be easier for me after awhile or eating what I normally to know how much I should be eating on a daily basis.

So, that's the Wednesday report!  The end is getting really really close!  I can't wait!!!

Before bed:  1 protein shake (1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water)

Day 14: 21 Day Cleanse

Ahhh, meat!  It tastes so good!  I was so excited to go to Sprouts today and purchase meat!  I feel like it's been forever, but it was only 6 days.  I just feel that my options on what I can eat are so limited...but I did it.  I can now say I've been Vegan for 6 days.

Today has been a good day.  Energy is still good, but I could have easily taken a nap today.  Otherwise, things are good!

Here is what I ate today:

Breakfast:  1 smoothie (1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder, 1 cup organic berries, 1 cup spinach, 1 cup vanilla unsweetened almond milk, 1 scoop OrganiX Phytofood, 1/2 avocado, 1 tbsp flax seed and 1 tbsp chia seed)--DELISH

Lunch:  4.5 oz of grilled chicken and 1/2 cup quinoa

Snack:  3 celery stalks and 5 mushrooms with 1 organic snack pack of hummus from Costco.  1 orange.

Dinner:  Chipotle!!  I got a bowl with pinto beans, brown rice, lettuce, green sauce, chicken and guacamole.  It was heaven!!

Late night snack:  1 protein shake (1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water).

Total calories:  1460 (Carbs 37%, Fats 34%, Protein 28%).  Protein is still a little lower than I would like, but I'll eat more tomorrow and less fat--the avocado and guacamole killed my fat intake today!  But it was so so good!!

Till tomorrow!  7 days left!!

Day 13 (final day of no meat): 21 day cleanse

Is it telling me something when my dreams last night consisted of dreaming about food and the fact that I started to eat tasty little morsels, such as, donuts and pizza, and then I instantly spit it out when I remembered I was on this cleanse?  Oh my...is this over yet?  At least I'm in the single digits of days now....I CAN DO IT!

Here's what I ate today:

Breakfast:  Protein shake (1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water).  1 cup organic brown rice puff cereal with 1 cup unsweetened almond milk.

Lunch:  Sweet potato and black bean "burger" lettuce wraps.

Snacks:  Protein shake (1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water).  1/2 serving of quinoa pasta. 1 peach.

Dinner:  Salad with veggies and a tri-bean blend with 1 tbsp of Bragg's Healthy Vinaigrette.

After dinner snack:  1 brown rice cake w/ 1 tbsp almond butter with a drizzle of honey and 3 small kiwi's.  Protein shake (1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water).

Total calories:  1420 (Carbs 55%, Protein 20%-74g, Fats 25%).  I made a decision today to re-evaluate my caloric intake AFTER this cleanse.  I'm going to be increasing it and focusing more on losing fat.  Not that I'm fat or anything, but I do have some body fat to lose so that is where my goals will be headed.  Meanwhile I get to eat tomorrow and I'm going to increase my calories a bit and try to decrease the carbs and eat more protein!!  I can't wait to eat meat!!!!  I think my stint as a vegan is over for my lifetime...hey, at least I gave it a whirl!!

Only 8 more days to go!!

Day 12 (Day 5 of no meat): 21 Day Cleanse

I only have one more day of being Vegan to go!  I can't believe I did this.  I sure am ready to eat some meat though.  The cravings for "bad" food are increasing and I'm salivating over my first meal when I am off this cleanse.  That will be in 9 short days!  I can't do it!

Today my energy seemed to be a little less than the previous few days, but was it because I wasn't running around with my head cut off or am I just tired?  I think it's a combo of both.  I actually took a little cat nap on the couch this afternoon and it felt delightful.    Otherwise, I really am feeling good!

Here is what I ate today:

Breakfast:  1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder with 1 scoop OrganiX Phytofood.  (I forgot the rest of my breakfast as I headed out the door).

Lunch:  Black bean and sweet potato "burgers" with lettuce wraps and 1/2 serving of the quinoa pasta salad.  Protein shake w/ 1/2 cup coconut milk and 1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder.

Afternoon snack:  1 cup black beans with steamed spinach, mushrooms and garlic.

Another snack:  3 celery stalks with an organic hummus snack pack.

Dinner:  Lentil, sweet potato and spinach soup

Before bed:  Protein shake (1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water).

Total Calories:  1394 (Carbs 53%, Protein 25% (93g), Fat 22%).  Not too shabby!  Seems to be the trend during this vegan week.  My macros will be back on track Sunday through the finish of this cleanse.

That's the update from here.  Happy TGIF!

Day 11 (Day 4 of no meat): 21 Day Cleanse

Only 2 more days  till I can have some meat or fish!  I think I'm ready.  Not eating meat really isn't that bad.  The worst part is drinking this protein shake 3 times a day!  If I didn't have to do that I'd be golden, but I need my protein so I drink it.  My "work" week is over at school so I have the weekend to myself now.  This is what I ate today:

Breakfast:  Protein shake (1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water), 1 cup organic brown rice puffs with 1 cup unsweetened almond milk.

After gym snack:  1 peach

Lunch:  Lentil, spinach and sweet potato soup.

Snacks:  Seaweed snack, 1 gala apple and 2 celery stalks.

Dinner:  Salad with tri-bean blend and veggies with 1 tbsp Bragg's Healthy Vinaigrette.  1 handful of organic mixed nuts and berries.

Late night snacks:  1 brown rice cake w/ 1 tbsp almond butter and a drizzle of honey with a protein shake--1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water.

Total calories (+/-)--I didn't count all the veggies in the salad or the total amount of lettuce that was in the salad either:  1381  (Carbs 54%, Protein 22%, Fat 24%).    I'm OK with these numbers.  Wish I could have lower carbs, but I don't see how to do that and still get in adequate protein (I got in 81grams today).    2 more days of this and then my macros can get back on track!  WOO HOO!

My energy has been good again today and I had a good cardio workout this morning.

So, more of the same tomorrow!

Erin

Day 10 (Day 3 of no meat): 21 Day Cleanse

Another day is coming to an end and it was my 3rd day of being a vegan!  It really hasn't been that bad, but I sure miss the ability to eat whatever I want...within reason of course.  Like to just be able to pop a little treat into my mouth or maybe have a chip or a piece of cheese??  Ahh....11 more days.  I can do it!

I had another busy day of shift today and my energy still held up.  I stayed up a little late last night to watch the girls dominate and win the GOLD in gymnastics and I still felt energized.  Maybe this no coffee thing is having a positive effect on me?!  Maybe I won't start drinking it again when I finish this.  I guess we shall see.

Here's what I ate today (it's starting to get boring I'm sure because it's the same thing over and over again....)

Breakfast:  smoothie (1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder with 1 cup organic raw spinach, 1/2 cup organic berries and 1 scoop of Xmogen's Organix Phytofood.

Lunch:  Quinoa pasta with homemade pesto sauce, cucumbers, jicama and onions and 1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water).

Snack:  1 peach

Dinner:  Lentil, spinach and sweet potato soup and 1 nectarine.

Snack:  1 brown rice cake w/ 1 tbsp almond butter and a little drizzle of honey

Before bed:  1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water.

Total calories:  1354 (Carbs 54%, Protein 24%, Fat 22%).   Although my carbs are high, they are all healthy carbs.  I got 80 grams of protein in today so I'm pleased with that number and my fat is under 30% so I'm pleased with that number.  I felt satiated all day too so that's good.  I was starving at lunch, but it's only because my lunch was delayed because I was so busy.

On to tomorrow and back to working out!

Have a good night everyone--

Erin

Day 9 (Day 2 of no meat): 21 Day Cleanse

I survived another day of no meat and honestly it wasn't bad at all...but then again I had an incredibly busy day!  My day began at 5:30am and I didn't stop until I got home at 8:45pm!  Whew!  My energy help up really good though and I'm pretty tired right now, but rightfully so!  I wasn't dragging though so I'm really happy!

Here is what I ate today:

Breakfast:  Smoothie (1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder, 1/2 cup organic berries, 1 cup organic baby spinach, 1 scoop Xymogen Organix Phytofood and 1 cup Coconut Milk)

Snack:  Nectarine

Lunch:  My quinoa pasta with homemade pesto and various veggies.  Protein shake:  1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water.

Snacks:  Peach, organic nuts and seeds, seaweed snack

Dinner:  Salad with many veggies and garbanzo beans with 1 tbsp Bragg's Healthy Vinaigrette.

Late night snack:  Protein shake:  1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water.

Total calories:  1364 (Carbs 47%, Protein 21%, Fats 32%)  Ideally I'd like to get my protein higher but I'm not sure how to do that without eating more carbs.  I don't want to supplement with more protein powder.  :(  If you have suggestions, please leave me a comment below!

That's the update from today.  Only 11 more days to go!  WHOOP!

Day 8 (and 1st day of no meat): 21 Day Cleanse

I survived a day of no meat products!  It really wasn't that bad, but I did feel myself being a little bit hungry.  I didn't want to just eat because I am aiming for a certain amount of calories per day for fitness goals.  I do know that I have no clue how I would hit my daily protein goals without eating meat!!  I did eat enough protein that my body requires (0.8grams per kilogram of body weight).  For me that equals 52 grams of protein and today I got 91.  I could supplement more with protein powder, but I didn't want to do that.  I don't find that to be healthy and I couldn't eat 3 servings of protein powder every day for the rest of my life!  The protein I am using for this cleanse has other stuff in it besides just protein and the recommended dose is 2 scoops per day.  Originally I was going to do 2 scoops, 3 times a day, but there is no way I am going to do that as it's too much protein powder.  So, I'm going to try to just get it from plant based food (mainly beans) but man that is tough to do without my carbs going through the roof (hence the higher carb reading)!  So my macros are going to be off this week, but it's not like I will be eating like this forever!  At least I'm eating healthy...

Here is what I ate:

Breakfast:  Smoothie (2 scoops OptiCleanseGHI vanilla protein powder, 1/2 cup organic mixed berries, 1 cup organic baby spinach and 1 scoop Xymogen OrganixPhytofood (more veggies/antioxidants))

Pre-workout snack:  1 brown rice cake topped with 1 tbsp almond butter and a drizzle of honey (my new favorite snack)

Lunch:  1 serving of the black bean and sweet potato as lettuce wraps with organic romain lettuce leaves.  1 protein shake with 2 scoops OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder.  I will not be doing the nightly protein powder as I decided after I drank this one that 2-3 scoops per day is enough! This picture looks measly, but it was the end of my bowl and I decided to snap a picture.  The other wraps were bigger--promise.

Afternoon snack:  Organic strawberries

Dinner:  Lentil, sweet potato and spinach soup (this soup is really good even though it doesn't look all that great.  It was quite filling too!)

Dessert:  1/4 cup organic nuts and berries from Costco (delicious treat)

Total Calories:  1313 (Carbs 51%, Protein 25%, Fat 23%).   I have come to the conclusion after one day that I have no clue how to get a 40/40/20 split without drinking the crap out of protein powder.   I could eat beans all day, but they aren't carb-less!  I also had a great shoulder/chest workout today too and felt good energy-wise.  2 days of rest from the gym coming up!

Tomorrow I have a ridiculously long day.  7am-9pm.  I am curious to see how my energy holds up!

Till tomorrow--

Erin

Day 7: 21 Day Cleanse

Holy Moly!  I survived ONE WHOLE WEEK!!!  I never thought in a millions years I could do this, but you know what?  When I put my mind to something I get it done.  I still have 2/3 to go, but 1/3 done with this cleanse!!  Tomorrow starts 6 days of no meat though.  I have never, ever done this in my life either.  I wonder how it will go?  I surely hope I am not hungry all the time.  I did spend about 2.5 hours today meal prepping for the week (more on that later on).  Like I mentioned yesterday I'm house sitting.  I slept good last night, but I kept waking up every 2 hours for some reason.  I wanted nothing more than a hot cup of coffee this AM to get me going, but my decaf had to do.  Now I'm out of it and will have to stick with herbal tea for the remainder of the time that I'm here (I'm too lazy to go buy any more decaf K-cups!)  And, the tea is better for me anyways!  I started my day off with a great yoga class this morning.  Nothing like a good stretch to end the week.

Here is what my food intake was like today:

Breakfast:  smoothie (2 scoops OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder, 1 cup organic baby spinach and 1 cup organic mixed berries)

Lunch:  1 turkey burger with some mustard, 1/2 cup jasmine rice and 1 carrot.

Snack:  1/2 chicken patty (plain), 1 carrot, 1 brown rice cake w/ 1 TBSP almond butter and a drizzle of raw honey

Dinner:  Wild Mahi Mahi baked filet and 1/2 cup jasmine rice.

Dessert:  1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water.

Todays calories:  1222 (I had some nuts that I didn't count, nor the honey)--40% Carbs, 22% Fat and 38% Protein. Tomorrow I'll weigh myself at Team AfterBurn and I hope to be down a few pounds.  I feel like I am!!

#mealprepsunday:

I went to my house this afternoon to do some meal prepping after a stop at Sprouts.  I bought all organic veggies for my meal prep.  This is what I prepped:

Homemade Pesto:  pine nuts, extra virgin olive oil, basil, lemon and garlic.  I've never made fresh pesto before, it's delicious.

Black bean and sweet potato "burgers".  Well, I tried to make them burgers but they didn't really stick together.  So, I just made it all together.  I'll eat some of this this week with some organic romaine as a lettuce wrap burger.  Here is the recipe:  Sweet Potato Black Bean Burger

Lentil, sweet potato and spinach soup.  This doesn't look the most appealing, but it sure is tasty.  And I could probably live off soup every day even if it is 110 out (which it is.)  Here is the recipe:  Lentil Spinach Soup

A giant tub of salad that I can dish out to bring salads this week.  What's in it?  Organic romaine lettuce, organic baby spinach, jicama, cucumber, mushrooms, chickpeas, carrots and radish.  I'll dress it with Bragg's Healthy Vinaigrette dressing.

'
And last, I made a healthy pasta dish.  I found this awesome quinoa macaroni pasta at Costco and it looked so good and it's organic.  So I boiled some up, mixed it up with the homemade pesto I made and then tossed in some onion, cucumber, celery and jicama.  Sounds delicious to me!

And then I had to cart it all over to the house I'm house sitting at so I can eat healthy and meat-less all week!  I also bought some fruit (nectarines, peaches, apples) and avocado for some snacks.  I have my brown rice cakes and almond butter as well.  Oh, I also have a breakfast recipe to make with some quinoa I have leftover, but I haven't assembled that yet.    Here is the recipe for it though:  Blueberry Breakfast Quinoa

I think that's the update from here.  Be sure to follow me this week as I embark on "no meat" Monday thru Saturday.  I can do it.  That cheese in their fridge sure looks good though....

Till tomorrow--hope your weekend was amazing!

Day 6: 21 Day Cleanse

Good evening!  Today's been a good day...very busy.  I started off the day with a cup of joe...decaf of course.  My oh my did it taste delicious!  I was then off to a pretty intense workout.  It felt great and a good way to start my day.  Beginning today I am house/dog sitting so I have already resisted more temptations.  "There are some homemade enchiladas in the fridge that will go bad by the time we get back, so please eat them."  Ugh--I can't!  But they look so good.  There's also lots of other stuff in the fridge I can't eat, such as, EGGS, cheese, ranch, bread, and the list goes on.  I will not eat it though!!  Tomorrow I'm going to my house to meal prep so I remain on track for my no meat week!

Here's what I ate today:

Breakfast:  1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water.  1 cup organic brown rice puff cereal with 1 cup coconut milk.

After workout/early lunch:  2.4 oz grilled chicken tenders, 1/2 chicken patty and 2 small beets.

Snack:  1 organic gala apple with 1 tbsp almond butter.

Late lunch:  Poki bowl--this may have had some soy in it, but whatever I ate was pretty slim.  I modified it to fit the cleanse it was SO good.  (Brown rice, organic greens, ahi tuna, salmon, jicama, cucumber, seaweed and ginger).

Dinner:  Chicken patty (plain) with cucumbers and radish

Late night snack:  1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water.

Total Calories:  1327 (41% Carbs, 23% Fat, 36% Protein).  This may not be 100% accurate as I didn't add some of the stuff that was on my poki bowl, but I ate clean all day and to me, that's what counts!

Tomorrow is the last day to eat meat for a few days.  I hope I can maintain the calories I want to consume, which by the way I am trying to eat only 1300 calories per day with a 40/40/20 split of Carbs/Protein/Fat.  It's going to be hard to not eat that many carbs with no meat!  If I go over, I won't be too worried because it's all veggies and beans and minimal fat.  I'll see how the week goes!

Till tomorrow--

Erin

Day 5: 21 Day Cleanse

Another day off the calendar.  Nothing new today, but I did increase my protein shakes to 2 per day.  One in the AM and 1 in the PM.  I also had a good workout this morning too and I'm still feeling amazing.  I was telling some friends today I have really good energy, don't feel sluggish in the afternoon and I really am surprised I haven't had any headaches.  I'm not complaining though!

Here is what I ate today:

Breakfast:  1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water and 1 cup organic brown rice puff cereal with 1 cup coconut milk.

Lunch:  Ground Chicken Hash (that's the last of it!)

Afternoon Meal:  3oz grilled chicken, black beans, avocado and sauteed spinach and mushrooms (no oil or butter).  This meal was actually eaten out.  I just modified the heck out of it! (There was some red bell pepper in the beans, but I picked it out!)

Snack:  Peach (I'm obsessed)

Dinner:  Wild Mahi Mahi filet and broccolini

Late night snack:  1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder mixed with water

Total Calories:  1319 (Carbs 41%, Protein 38%, Fat 21%).  Pretty spot on to me!

I should mention too the supplements I take.  I take a multi-vitamin from Xymogen.  It's actually a pack of vitamins that includes a multi, an antioxidant and a fish oil.  I take Astragalus, a probiotic, broccoli extract and a B vitamin.

I also did THIS today:
BEFORE

AFTER
12 inches lighter!!!

I am going to donate my locks to Pantene.  They take un-died hair, but it must be 8 inches and clean.  I will supply them with 12 inches.  To find out more, check them out here:  Pantene-Beautiful Lengths.  I absolutely love my new look and I should have done it months ago.  This is my first drastic cut since I lost my hair 6 years.  I feel so free, lighter and much cooler!!  I love change!!

So, with that I bid you goodnight!  Till tomorrow--5 days down, 16 to go!  I got this!!

Toodles--

Erin

Day 4: 21 Day Cleanse

These days are whizzing by!  I can't complain though because the faster they go, the faster I can have gluten and a beer again!  HA!  Today I was fascinating over pasta and french fries.  But nope, I didn't cave and I won't!

Today has been about the same as yesterday.  My sleep wasn't as good, but I'm dealing with some ankle pain from rolling it a couple weeks ago and for some reason it caused me some discomfort while I slept last night.  I still felt rested though and hardly yawned today.  I can't believe I have gone FOUR DAYS WITHOUT COFFEE!  I don't think that has ever happened to me...well, when I was a child, yes...but I have no clue how many years I have been drinking coffee!  The gas was minimal today too, but I only had 1 scoop of protein powder this AM.  Tomorrow the protocol is 3 protein shakes so we'll see how I do!

I felt more brain clarity today and thankfully not like a space cadet.

Here's what I ate today:

Breakfast:  1 scoop OptiCleanseGHI Vanilla protein powder mixed with water.  1 scoop Organic Brown Rice Puff cereal and 1 cup coconut milk.

Lunch:  Ground Chicken Hash and 1 peach.

Snacks:  Veggie Pack (organic carrots, radishes and cucumbers), 1 sesame seaweed pack, 1 brown rice cake

Dinner:  4.5 oz grilled chicken tenders, 1/2 cup Jasmine rice and 1 cup steamed green beans

Late night snack:  1 turkey burger (plain)

Total Calories:  1220 (Carbs 42%, Fat 21%, Protein 37%)--it's so hard to eat low carbs when you eat a lot of veggies and fruit!  UGH!

I'm gearing up for the days of no meat coming up next week!  Pinterest is helping me find something to eat!

I'll update again tomorrow!

Day 3: 21 Day Cleanse

Am I really on a cleanse?  I don't feel as though I am so I guess that's a good thing?!  Today was a day similar to yesterday however I didn't feel like a space cadet.  The only symptom I experienced more so than that other days was a being a little bit more gassy.  I think it's the protein powder.  I hope I am not a farting machine when I have to have it 3 times a day!  Ha!

I even got a cardio workout in tonight and I still feel great.  My energy levels are high and I haven't had any afternoon crashes.  It's been great so far!  Here is what I ate today:

Breakfast--smoothie (2 scoops OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder,  1 cup organic spinach, 1/2 cup organic mixed berries, 1 TBSP chia and flax seeds).

Lunch--1 grilled turkey burger (plain), 1/2 cup jasmine rice and 1 cup steamed green beans

Snacks-1 brown rice cake, veggie pack (organic carrots, radish and cucumber) w/ 1 snack pack of organic hummus, 1 grilled chicken patti and 1 peach

Dinner--baked wild Mahi Mahi (1.5 filets) and steamed broccolini (sorry-this was the only photo I took, but the rest of my food was boring!)

Today's calories:  1307 calories ( 40% carbs, 21% fat and 39% protein).  This is almost perfect for where I want to be!  I'm proud of myself today.

I'm already starting to stress about next week when I can't have any meat products.  I hope I can still get in enough protein.  I will be drinking protein shakes 3 times a week so hopefully that will help!

So, onto day 4!

Till tomorrow--

Erin

Day 2: 21 Day Cleanse

2 down, 19 to go!  I can do this!  Today has been a good day.  I had great energy all day long, but then again it is my 14 hour day so I have no time to be tired!!  I did notice that I was a little scattered brained today.  I made some silly errors and wasn't remembering things easily.  Not sure if this has anything to do with the cleanse or maybe the lack of coffee (ha!).

Today's eats consisted of this:

Breakfast:  Smoothie:  2 scoops OptiCleanse GHI Vanilla protein powder, 1 scoop OrganiX Phytofood, 1/2 cup organic mixed berries, 1 cup spinach, 1 TBSP flax seed and chia seed.  De-lish!

Lunch:  Salad-4 oz. grilled chicken tenders, 2 cups spinach, 1/2 cup Great Northern Beans, 1/4 cup mushrooms, 2 organic carrots, 4 organic radishes and 2 TBSP Bragg's Healthy Vinaigrette.

Dinner:  Ground Chicken Hash, 4.5 oz organic strawberries and 2 brown rice cakes (yes, weird...but the rice cakes and strawberries were supposed to be mid-afternoon snack that I didn't have time to eat).

Late night snack:  1 grilled chicken pattie (all-natural, hormone free)

Total Calories:  1310 (43% carbs, 20% fats and 37% protein)

Till tomorrow--sorry no pictures today!

Day 1: 21 Day Cleanse

I survived the first day!  Honestly the hardest part of the day was waking up and not smelling the smell of fresh coffee!  Other than that, it was a piece of cake!!  I did wake up feeling exhausted though but honestly, I think that is in part from my sugar high I had yesterday and the fact that my monthly visitor is about to appear.  So, after I was up for a couple hours I took a nap...my body needed it and I'm so glad I did because I felt like a million bucks afterwards.

Sugar high yesterday and NOT allowed on cleanse.  I kinda went all out on my last day.  Oopps.  But man was it delicious!

I mentioned in my first post I was going to be adding something to the 21 day cleanse.  I am the student rep for a nutraceutical company, Xymogen, and I decided to add their "6 day detox" regimen into this 21 day detox.   All that is different is using a homeopathic remedy, "Drainage" in addition to a colon supplement.  I am also using their protein powder, "OptiCleanse GHI" as my daily protein drinks.  So far, so good.

Here is what I ate today and it was about 1300 calories:  40% carbs, 27% fat and 37% protein.  Not too shabby!!  And I was tempted today at a clinic I volunteered at with some delicious gooey looking chocolate chip muffins.  If I wasn't on this cleanse I would have had one, but nope, I politely declined (go me!)

Instead of coffee, I had this hot tea instead and it was delcious!

Breakfast:  smoothie:  1 scoop OptiCleanse GHI vanilla protein powder, 1 cup spinach, 1 cup organic berries, 1 tbsp flax seed, 1 tbsp chia seeds and 1 scoop of Xymogen's Organix Phytofood (a mixture of berries, greens and antioxidants).

Lunch:  1 brown rice cake w/ 1 tbsp almond butter (no salt) and my ground chicken hash (ground chicken, zucchini, mushrooms and sweet potato)

Dinner:  4.5 oz Sprout's chicken tenders, 1/2 cup Jasmine rice, 1 cup steamed green beans

Snack:  mixed raw veggies (radish, carrots, cucumber) and 1 seaweed snack pack

Late night snack:  1 grilled turkey burger (plain)--I had to get some more protein in

Besides this morning I felt great.  It is now 9:30pm and I feel tired and ready for a good night's sleep  I just finished prepping my food for tomorrow because it's my 14 hour day.   I forgot to take my weight as soon as I woke up this morning but I'll do it tomorrow morning so I can see if I lose any pounds on this cleanse.

Oh, I also made sure to drink A LOT of water.  I had probably 1 gallon.

1 down, 20 to go!  I got this!

Till tomorrow--

Erin
